The Florida Legislature's special session adjourned June 19 after the House and Senate passed a $78.7 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2015-2016 (which begins July 1, 2015). The budget included over $400 million in tax reductions approved earlier in the week, including a reduction in the communications services tax, a 10-day sales tax holiday on the first $750 of the price of computers and accessories, and an expansion of the R&D tax credit.

Last month, the Alabama Workforce Council publicly released its recommendations for collaboration between Alabama businesses and education officials and a series of innovative initiatives aimed at transforming workforce development efforts and improving educational outcomes in the state.

In an effort to fill a $1.6 billion budget shortfall, the Louisiana legislature ended its session with a final budget that eliminates several business tax credits.
