A few months ago, the SEC was approached about being the US conduit for a US space company delegation to Brazil. The delegation would participate in high level meetings with both Brazilian space companies and government officials. My counterpart in Brazil Reeve Wolford and I have met with both Department of State officials and Trump Administration lead for Western Hemisphere issues Landon Loomis on the concept and all parties have been supportive.

On May 11th, President Trump signed off on the long-awaited cybersecurity executive order, promoting IT modernization and Shared Services. White House Assistant to the President for Homeland Security stated that " part of the enterprise view of the government is moving to Shared Services." The EO emphasizes the "strong preference" in procurement for shared IT services, which include email, cloud, and cyber services. Shared Services will also be one of the primarily focuses of the newly created American Technology Council.

CompTIA has joined the recently created Bipartisan Policy Center’s Coalition to Modernize American Infrastructure. CompTIA has stated that a 21st century infrastructure ecosystem includes transportation (roads, bridges and airports), water (public utilities) and energy (electric grid) that is layered by cross-cutting, secure, smart technology and enabled by ubiquitous broadband connectivity and sensors.

Earlier this month, bipartisan legislation was introduced in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives to help state, local and tribal governments more effectively counter cyber-threats.

The Smart Cities Council and federal government kicked off Smart Cities Week with announcements of $80 million dollars in new investments to help cities leverage smart cities technologies. CompTIA is playing an integral role in these investments, offering a host of products and services through the Smart Cities Council Challenge Grants.
