CompTIA Cyberstates 2017™ finds state is home to 970 tech businesses and 4,800-plus tech professionals
Cheyenne, Wyo. – The technology industry in Wyoming experienced a decline in employment of 3.6 percent in 2016, according to Cyberstates 2017™, the definitive annual analysis of the nation’s tech industry released today by CompTIA, the world’s leading technology association.
Tech industry employment stood at an estimated 4,820 workers at the end of 2016, or an estimated 1.7 percent of the state’s total workforce.
Technology occupations across all other industries in Wyoming – the second component of the tech workforce – reached an estimated 7,100 in 2016.
The tech sector accounts for an estimated 1.6 percent ($900 million) of the overall state economy.
The annualized average wage for a Wyoming tech industry worker was an estimated at $63,900 in 2016, 40 percent higher than the average state wage ($45,600).

Cyberstates 2017 is based on CompTIA’s analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, EMSI, and other sources.
