Nov 28, 2017

IT professionals can earn CompTIA Continuing Education Credits at free virtual conference on December 6

Downers Grove, Ill. – Some of the most challenging issues facing today’s technology professionals will be tackled during CompTIA Plus, a free one-day virtual conference offered on December 6 by CompTIA, the leading technology industry association.

“The educational content planned for the CompTIA Plus is relevant for IT professionals across the career spectrum, from recent hires to seasoned veterans,” said Kelly Ricker, executive vice president, events and education, CompTIA.

“As an added bonus, CompTIA certification holders who participate in the virtual conference will earn continuing education credits to apply toward the renewal of their CompTIA certifications,” she said.

CompTIA Plus begins at 10 a.m. Central on Thursday, December 6, with a welcome from Nancy Hammervik, CompTIA’s executive vice president for industry relations, and keynote remarks by President and CEO Todd Thibodeaux.

Four educational sessions will follow.

  • Today’s IT Challenges – Panelists will address a range of topics including security and privacy, network skills required today, risk management, and diversity in the IT workforce.
  • Linux Security: What You Need to Know – Learn how Linux relates to cybersecurity and what systems run on Linux platforms – from Android phones and tablets to IoT systems to virtualized Windows servers running on the public cloud.
  • Virtualization Best Practices – An examination of best practices in planning, configuring, managing and securing virtual machines and systems to best allocate resources and maximize performance.
  • Datacenter to Cloud: Lessons Learned from an ERP Migration – Attendees will learn how one organization re-architected and re-engineered its enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution one server and service at a time to fit the cloud model.

Throughout the day there will be opportunities to participate in trivia games and win prizes, including a one-year membership in the CompTIA Association for IT Professionals (AITP), CompTIA certification exam vouchers and gift cards from top retailers.

The day will conclude with an update on CompTIA AITP. The session is open to current members and anyone interested in learning more about the professional association. Attendees will hear about the program enhancements and new benefits added to membership since AITP became part of CompTIA, and learn what’s coming up in 2018 for CompTIA AITP.
