Voting Scandal Rocks Breakaway

If strip poker and erectile dysfunction weren’t enough to raise the stakes in our PitchIT video contest, now we’ve got a voting scandal on our hands.

Less than a month into the contest, 18 entrants have garnered more than a quarter of a million votes from viewers.  That many votes in such a short time period are raising some eyebrows, but hey we asked for creativity.

We told you to do whatever it takes to get votes for your videos.  So let’s put a few rules in place – showing some skin, yes, it’s okay – we’ll alert you if the FCC comes after us.  Writing a code to get multiple votes, not okay.

With themes based on Napolean Dynomite to erectile dysfunction ads to rap to cartoons to strip poker, you’re showing you have what it takes to sell your business and entertain at that same time.  Keep it up.  You have until August 4th to submit a video and cast your votes.

Vendor sponsors and attendee resellers coming to our annual Breakaway conference in San Antonio, Texas, next month, you’re eligible to submit your three-minute videos for the contest through next Wednesday.  Vendors, feature your new technology product, solution or application. Resellers, convey what makes your company the best in IT.

To submit a video, upload it to the PitchIT contest homepage, and then tweet a link to the video, share it on Facebook, and/or email it to your network of friends.

On August 4th, we’ll select 8 finalists (5 sponsors, 3 attendees) based on viewer vote tally.  Votes received repeatedly from the same IP address will be removed from the final count.

Entrants selected for the final round must appear live at Breakaway, August 9-12, in San Antonio. If a finalist is not able to attend Breakaway, the entrant with the next highest vote count will be selected for the final round. The finalists’ videos will be featured throughout Breakaway, and on-site attendees will be required to use their unique badge ID to vote on the finalists. The winner in each category will win a $500 American Express gift card.

Remember you’ve got until Wednesday to submit and vote. So get cranking on the funny and skip the coding!
