Despite all the efforts to give women a platform in the technology industry, they often find themselves overlooked in their current positions — even women who are well-respected and working for reputable companies. But with the advent of social media, it has never been easier to be visible, according to Kathryn Rose of Elastic Grid, a former Wall Street sales executive who pivoted to IT after the mortgage market meltdown.
“During my time in the IT channel, I have heard from many women that they feel left out or overlooked. The tools to stand out from the crowd are all available, but many times they go unused or used sporadically so the visibility piece doesn’t take off,” Rose said. “Once I realized it was a prevalent issue, I started to connect with women and teach them strategies to stand out in the workplace.”
Rose is partnering with CompTIA’s Advancing Women in IT Community and SYNNEX F2F to present a four-part webinar series that highlights ways women can stand out in the IT industry.
“F2F stands for Face 2 Face, Female 2 Female and Friend 2 Friend,” said Mary Ellen Grom, who will host the fourth part in the series with Rose. “We want to connect smart, talented women with each other and encourage them to speak up and stand out. We’re talking about more than empowerment — these are real, workable ideas to get women ahead.”

Stand Up To Stand Out Hosts
The women hosting the webinars were
chosen because they know what it takes to succeed, and can explain their
methods to you. Each woman on the panel knows what it takes to stand up and
stand out in business. Learn the formula for success through their experience.
Nine years ago, Rose was a Wall street sales executive and then the mortgage market melted down. Her division closed when she was 8 and a half months pregnant and she needed to find a new direction. Her turn from Wall Street to online marketing and social media helped her write two-best selling books and become a respected thought leader in her industry. For the past three years, she’s tackled IT and has been tapped to speak at many industry conferences including Google Partner conference, Dell World, IBM Partnerworld and the Citrix Summit.
Her co-hosts are equally as credentialed. Robyn Hatcher is a sought-after speaking and branding coach who works with business professionals so that they exude confidence, project competence and get the recognition they deserve. She’s an author and communication skills expert and Founder of SpeakEtc., a boutique communication and presentation skills training company whose clients include C-suite executives and entrepreneurs, as well as academics and human services professionals.
Melonie Dodaro is the author of the No. 1 international bestseller, The LinkedIn Code. She is also the founder of Top Dog Social Media, a digital marketing agency that helps businesses, sales teams and professionals leverage social media and online marketing to build engaged communities and increase leads, prospects and clients. Dubbed by the media as Canada’s #1 LinkedIn expert she is highly sought after internationally as a LinkedIn and social selling speaker and trainer.
