New Department of Commerce Officials Address Export Advisory Committee

On Tuesday, September 12, 2017, U.S. Department of Commerce Under Secretary for Industry and Security, Mira Ricardel and Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration, Rich Ashooh addressed the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) Regulations and Procedures Technical Advisory Committee (RPTAC). The RPTAC which includes several CompTIA members advises the Department of Commerce on technical parameters for export controls applicable to dual-use commodities and technology and on the administration of those controls.

On Tuesday, September 12, 2017, U.S. Department of Commerce Under Secretary for Industry and Security, Mira Ricardel and Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration, Rich Ashooh addressed the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) Regulations and Procedures Technical Advisory Committee (RPTAC).  The RPTAC which includes several CompTIA members advises the Department of Commerce on technical parameters for export controls applicable to dual-use commodities and technology and on the administration of those controls.  

Ms. Ricardel acknowledged the valuable input provided by the industry advisory committees.  She also stated the new Administration will be focusing on making government more efficient and reducing regulation.  They will also ensure controls are in place to protect U.S. leadership and effectiveness in order to remain preeminent in certain technology sectors.  RPTAC Work Group leaders communicated top priority issues for industry in an effort to update the export regulations for current technologies as well as make them clearer to ensure compliance.
