Welcome to the first in a series of posts focused on CompTIA’s Human Services Information Technology Advisory Group (HSITAG).
HSITAG is the private sector industry association representing all the major consultancies that serve the Health and Human Services (HHS) industry nationally. If you can think of a systems integrator or consulting firm that works in the human services space, they are likely represented in our group. We are proud of our industry association with the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) and work closely with them, offering thought leadership and participating heavily in their annual agenda.
We are launching this blog series as a way for our members to communicate, share ideas, and contribute thought leadership to the industry. We are excited about its potential as a new way for our members to engage, learn, and further advance the cause of using information technology to help solve some of society’s most challenging problems.
In upcoming posts, we will share information about the work that our group does to understand and address critical challenges that HHS agencies are facing as well as provide a forum to brainstorm on how technology innovations can enable change.
HSITAG is organized around a few key objectives:
- Offering relevant and timely programs that showcase a variety of speakers from Federal, state, and local human services organizations.Speakers share relevant information about current and planned technology initiatives, discuss any material changes in the way they are managing their programs, and take questions from the HSITAG membership. Our monthly meeting venue changes, so we get to hear from leaders across the county.
- Developing our membership to attract the best and brightest firms to join our mission. We want the tried and true companies as well as the innovators at our table; fostering increased participation among member companies enables us to strengthen our relevance as a thought leaders to the industry.
- Donating to charitable organizations to support populations served by the HHS agencies; we identify a recipient or recipients to receive a $10,000 donation to be given annually by CompTIA on behalf of the HSITAG member community. We also sponsor hands-on community service event to support an organization that helps underserved citizens.Giving back is all part of HSITAG’s desire to do work that matters!
- Focusing on relevant issues that HSITAG can address with additional research and sharing our point of view with both our members and the HHS community at large through a variety of social media channels. We can do some of the heavy lifting of digging into important issues and then leverage the talent and know-how of our members to articulate solutions.
- Conducting an annual State of the State Survey to solicit feedback from HHS leaders around challenges, issues, solutions, and tactics for leveraging technology to improve outcomes. We want to hear from the industry; listening to and acting on customers’ views can strengthen what the vendor community brings to the table!
So, stay tuned for future blog posts that focus on our mission, our thought leadership, and why you should pay attention to HSITAG.
