Breakaway brings you the best of tools for VARs and MSPs, but there’s also a whole track of sessions dedicated to the certification audience.  Hear about the new academic version of the CompTIA Authorized Partner Program (CAPP), an introduction to the Getting America Back to Work initiative, plus updates from Academic Advisory Council members.

Technology educators need access to the most current information to keep their skills sharp. CompTIA has launched several online resources for educators.  Plus during Breakaway, author Jean Andrews will discuss suggestions to raise the level of student achievement on the CompTIA A+ exams.

Plus if you’re tired of reinstalling an OS because the students deleted vital system files, learn how to virtualize your classroom to save time and unnecessary hardware expense.

CompTIA also is branching out with more partners to enhance its certifications.  Today, we announced that we’re collaborating with Certification Partners LLC, owners of the Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP) certification, on a new credential that validates skills and standards-based knowledge in today's convergence technologies. The new CTP+ certification available August 30 combines elements of the CTP and CompTIA Convergence+ certifications and is designed to address the rapidly changing landscape of new network convergence products and solutions.

With the introduction of the new CTP+ certification, the current CompTIA Convergence+ and Certification Partners’ CTP 2007 certifications both will be retired on October 31, 2010.

Organizations of all sizes and from various markets are aggressively deploying convergence solutions. For example, our April 2010 study CompTIA U.S. Small and Medium Business (SMB) 2010 Emerging Technologies Report found that 55 percent  of small and mid-sized business (fewer than 500 employees) surveyed currently use or plan to use converged voice and data solutions. That’s up from 39 percent in the 2009 survey.

We’re hoping to broaden our partnership with Certification Partners and are exploring the development of a database certification with them.

We’re also working with Element K on a variety of eLearning courses.  The self-paced courses offer learning tools to develop IT knowledge and technical skills. Element K’s courses combine comprehensive conceptual information and interactive procedural training to reinforce skills and solidify learning. Whether students are looking for a standalone program or a learning companion to support and extend classroom learning, the engaging, interactive content will help to prepare students for IT certifications and certificates.
