Thank you to the 159 people who attended our UK Channel Community meeting last month! The day was packed full of information regarding recruiting and retaining the right people. Keeping with that theme of recruitment, our Workforce Development Team has been working to inform students, parents and educators about the fantastic opportunities within the IT industry via several initiatives.
Skillsboost
CompTIA has launched Skillboost, a new, free resource on IT careers for students of all ages. Skillsboost features the latest information on careers within the IT industry as well as opportunities for technology jobs in other businesses and industries – from big corporations to small family run businesses. Whether they’re in junior school, senior school, college or university, the Skillsboost site provides students with tips on how to use their current studies to prepare for a career in IT; and next steps they can take to train for an IT career.
IT Fundamentals
As part of our continuing effort to address the IT skills gap and bring more new entrants into the IT field, we are working on exciting new solutions around the CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification. As part of these efforts we’ll be examining how we deliver the IT Fundamentals exam, including the exam voucher and registration process. We’re hoping to engage anyone interested in learning more about the underlying technology that powers our industry.
IT Apprenticeships
One of the best ways to grow your business and harness fresh talent is by taking advantage of local apprentices. Take a look at the Directory of approved CompTIA Apprenticeship Providers for more information and to find an apprentice in your area.
The Skills Show, NEC Birmingham, November 19th-21st
CompTIA will be showcasing digital careers at this huge event, which attracts 80,000 young people to discover what the world of work looks like. To find out more, please contact Jane Dickinson jdickinson@comptia.org
