Certainly you’ve noticed the new design of CompTIA.org, and we’re happy to announce that others have, too. The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts selected CompTIA.org to receive a 2014 W3 Gold Award for the overall website, plus silver awards for web writing, the home page and user experience.
The redesigned site features mobile-first responsive design, a powerful search tool and simplified navigation. To keep our members engaged with the latest content and research, the site includes a beautiful Insight & Tools page where members and registered users can quickly look for and take advantage of world-class education and research to help them grow their careers and businesses.
“We started with a very clear goal prior to the project and stripped away everything else that didn’t fit,” said Randy Gross, CompTIA’s chief information officer. “Having the full buy-in from our CEO, board of directors and the business leadership by the head of membership made for a project that worked at the end.”
CompTIA.org users can use the lightweight, modern design to browse, discover and download our content, including in-depth IT industry research and channel training materials. Find featured research, quick start guides, buying guides and toolkits, plus access to live and on-demand webinars and presentations.
Much of our content is now available free of charge for registered users. You can start now and access content in less than a minute: Registration is free and anyone can register. Red stars are used to differentiate premier content, like the new Marketing Toolkit, and you can access bundles of resources from our archives, like the new 5 Tools to Jumpstart Your Cloud.
Content can be filtered by topic and content, and content can also be filtered by audience, be it solution providers, vendors and distributors and even our UK-based audience.
“We’re thrilled with the positive feedback from our members and the quantitative metrics around content utilization,” said Gross.
W3 received more than 4,000 entries for its ninth annual awards program, which honors creative excellence in websites, web marketing, web video, mobile sites, apps and social content. Linda Day, director of the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, the group that sanctions and judges the W3 Awards, said her group was once again amazed with the high level of execution and creativity represented in this year’s entries. “Our winners continue to find innovative and forward-thinking ways to push the boundaries of creativity in web design,” Day said.
Unlike other award programs that group entrants into size-specific categories, the W3 Awards pit small firms with Fortune 500 companies and international agencies. “Simply put, the W3 is the first major web competition to be accessible to the biggest agencies, the smallest firms and everyone in between,” according to W3 Awards director Derek Howard.
“We realize that a lot of our success comes from the support of our members and partners, and we’re happy to supply a user-friendly way to download our content, research and business tools,” said Gross.
