As part of its mission to advance the IT industry, CompTIA sponsors 10 communities and three advisory councils filled with thought leaders who represent a range of IT vendors, distributors and solution providers.
Much of their collaborative work focuses on how to grow the IT industry and build best business practices for IT companies. But each year, the groups also consider worthwhile charitable organizations that could use financial support but are also related to the IT industry.
The Creating IT Futures Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CompTIA, gives each community and council $10,000 with which to support one or two charities doing good works.
“This program demonstrates CompTIA’s core belief in giving back to local communities through philanthropy,” said Charles Eaton, CEO. “Not only do these charitable donations bring positive awareness to CompTIA and selected charities, they can serve as a vehicle for individual engagement.”
In an upcoming series of blog posts, we will share information about the communities and councils, as well as the charities they have chosen to support for 2015. They include:
- The Partner Advisory Council, which gave $5,000 to TechGirlz and $5,000 to Npower.
- The Telecom Advisory Council, which gave $5,000 to Folds of Honor and $5,000 to Computers for Youth.
- The Vendor Advisory Council, which gave $5,000 to TechGirlz and $5,000 to the San Diego Women’s Hackathon.
- The UK Channel Community, which gave $10,000 to Teen Tech, and the
- Advancing Women in IT Community, which gave $5,000 to TechGirlz and $5,000 to Year Up.
Other communities will be making their charitable selections in the next few weeks, and we will highlight those as they occur.
