Jeff Bendix’s business is to take the worry out of print management – and he does it well. For thirteen years, Bendix Imaging has specialized in print management systems, remanufactured laser and ink jet printer cartridges, and service and support for printing equipment. But when it comes to relieving that worry for brand new customers Bendix, president and owner, needed to set his company apart from the competition. The CompTIA Managed Print Trustmark was the distinction Bendix was looking for and, since earning the credential, he’s found it beneficial to opening doors to new business.
Bendix Imaging obtained the Managed Print Trustmark at the end of 2012. According to Bendix, the company first pursued the Trustmark to differentiate its businesses from the competition by demonstrating trustworthiness and reliability. “We work with IT departments in many companies and the CompTIA Trustmark lends instant credibility,” he said.
The CompTIA Managed Print Trustmark is a vendor-neutral business credential designed to advance and differentiate organizations that offer managed print services (MPS). It identifies provider businesses that have demonstrated a high level of competency and adhere to prescribed industry best practices, serving as a reference to the quality of the services these companies provide and the commitment they make to their clients.
Bendix said the Trustmark has opened doors to customers that previously were not interested in speaking with his company. “We’ve found that in some cases a company is familiar with CompTIA and due to that recognition wanted to learn more about us,” he said.
With the increasing market adoption of managed print services, the CompTIA Managed Print Trustmark was developed to validate and enable numerous efficiencies in the field, resulting in higher service levels and lower costs for small- to medium-sized end-users and customers, improved efficiency and profitability for MPS providers and innovative vendor offerings and services delivered through the channel.
Bendix believes the Trustmark has increased his company’s credibility in speaking with IT experts. “The Trustmark gives IT professionals confidence that we know what we are doing and have actually taken the time to go through this process,” he said.
Promoting the company’s designation by displaying the CompTIA and Managed Print Trustmark logos in email signatures, service vehicles and company collateral is key to opening doors. “We make sure we explain what the Managed Print Trustmark is and what it stands for, and we always promote the Trustmark in our customer proposals,” Bendix said.
In addition to gaining new business, the credential, according to Bendix, helped his company improve internal processes as well. “It’s helped us take an even deeper look at our MPS program and enhance a few areas we wanted to improve,” he said.
Fewer than 20 organizations across the U.S. and Canada combined have earned the Managed Print Trustmark to date, making it an exclusive credential that is well worth the time and energy spent to complete the qualification process. “For those who are truly operating a MPS business or looking to enhance their current offering, I absolutely recommend going after the Managed Print Trustmark,” Bendix said.
