We’re proud to announce that four of the 2013 SMB 150 – an annual list of the top 150 small- and medium-sized business (SMB) professionals – hail from CompTIA! Congratulations to:

  • Todd Thibodeaux, president & CEO.
  • Nancy Hammervik, senior vice president of industry relations.
  • Kate Hunt, director of member communities.
  • Corey Simpson, director of member communities.

These four individuals have been honored for their impact on the SMB channel. Impact is measured through providing valuable information and services and overall thought leadership to a significant number of MSPs, SMB channel partners and resellers.

Thibodeaux, Hammervik and Simpson have been honored in the “Leaders” category, and Hunt appears in the “Expert” category. “It’s an honor and a privilege to serve and support this SMB Nation reseller network through the power of CompTIA’s communities,” Hunt said.

Thibodeaux says the award is undoubtedly a testament to how CompTIA has become a trusted partner and resource for the SMB professional. “The training, education, business tools and intelligence provided by CompTIA help these businesses thrive and grow,” he said.

Perhaps one of the most valuable resources CompTIA has offered SMBs in the past few years is the opportunity to participate in one of CompTIA’s member communities. These communities are member-driven groups that collaborate to build roadmaps for their respective industry segments with the intent to advance emerging technologies, vertical markets and business opportunities. The communities provide solution providers, vendors and distributors a forum for open discussion and a platform for advancing their piece of the IT industry.

“This award validates the work we are doing in our CompTIA communities,” Simpson said. “We have made a difference in the industry and the SMB Nation has noticed.”

CompTIA has also created and released a wide range of channel training products since 2011. These educational pieces are developed under the direction of CompTIA membership and seek to help professionals grow their business. This focus on continued education and training may be one of the reasons why so many CompTIA members also appear on the 2013 SMB 150 list.

“Nearly half of the SMB 150 list is comprised of CompTIA members,” Hammervik said. “We are thrilled to be celebrating this recognition along with so many of our industry friends and supporters.”

CompTIA congratulates Thibodeaux, Hammervik, Hunt and Simpson and plans to build on this milestone going forward. “[Through] this award, SMB Nation creates visibility for our efforts and we plan to use that to expand our reach,” Simpson said.

The SMB 150 is jointly produced by the SMB Technology Network and SMB Nation. The SMB Technology Network has its roots in partner groups focused on IT solutions and services for the SMB space. SMB Nation is a publishing and events company, targeted at the SMB channel partner, reseller, consulting and VAR community.
