Among those resources is the CompTIA Marketing Toolkit. This collection of marketing tools offers resellers guidance on such topics as creating a marketing plan, selecting effective media, and using publicity tools to deliver your company’s “story”. Also included in the toolkit are samples of different deliverables such as a marketing plan, a byline article, a pitch letter, media alerts, case study request letters and more. In addition to the marketing toolkit, CompTIA also offers articles and webinars that provide valuable information on important marketing “how-to’s.” The timely article topics include high-impact, low-budget ideas for marketing your business in a down economy and using the media to promote your products and services.
These marketing-focused resources are part of an on-going CompTIA initiative to provide education, tools, and resources around core business skills – marketing, sales, human resources, legal, and finance. The impetus for this initiative was provided by the members of the Small Business Owners (SBO) Community, a group focused on the development of best practices, business fundamental education and resources for emerging IT business owners (i.e. VARs, MSPs with fewer than 50 employees).
In addition to the new marketing resources, CompTIA Breakaway, August 9-12 in San Antonio, TX will offer several marketing education sessions, including:
- Effectively Marketing Your Business: How to Leverage Social Media, MDF, and Other Programs to Increase Revenue
- Differentiating Your Elevator Sales Pitch: Making the Most of Your Three Minutes
In addition, the Small Business Owners Community onsite meeting will likely include a variety of marketing-oriented subjects to develop new tools and education sessions for VARs and MSPs. If you have other ideas for how or what CompTIA could contribute to help emerging IT companies attain their goals or wish to join the Small Business Owners Community, contact communities@comptia.org.
